My Role

As one of the Eastern Canada Promotions and Communications Chair, I work with Kejie to run this committee. The goal of the committee is to promote Key Club in the community and provides up-to-date information that is accessible for all Key Clubbers in the Eastern Canada District. As Committee Co-Chair, I am responsible for:

  • Connecting committee members across Canada to get together to plan, organize, and run events that promote Key Club

  • Create meeting agendas and communicate regularly with all members

  • Hold meetings atleast once a month

This role showed me the importance of communication and credibility. Because our meetings are dependent on Skype calls, it is so important to communicate regularly with emails or messages. Kejie and I message eachother on a weekly basis to plan our next meeting. Through Skype, we discuss and like shown on the left, create an agenda for the meeting with members that month. This experience showed me how important it is for leaders to follow through with their words because long distance groups are relient on everyone being aware of our goals and eachother's tasks. A common goal and group communication is the only way we can get things done(concept of shared leadership). In addition, I learned how a leader needs to follow up regularly to ask if anyone needs assistance or more time. Because we hold monthly meetings, weekly reminders and followups are critical to ensure that all members know their role and get tasks done.
